Editor's Choice: Products I Loved in August
Hi all -
I am fairly certain that I have decided that Friday's will be the most realistic days for me to post. That way I can be consistent and really make something of this space. But as you know, when being a student and working half-time, all things are subject to change! I know my posting has been inconsistent, but starting school has really thrown me for a loop. I hope I can be better from here on out.
I have put together a list of products I have tried in the last few weeks. I've found that I love to read other's reviews on products and thought I should contribute to the pot. Sometimes these posts really help me to make an informed decision when in the shops. So, I encourage you to keep this in mind when you head to the department store. Maybe even sneak some of these into your cart while doing some quick grocery shopping :)
Also, let me know if you try or like any of the things below!
Vanille Blackberry Perfume by Sud Pacifique - $30
This flowery and fresh perfume is wonderful. Trust me, I have had my fair share of perfumes. Everything from Nicki Minaj's Minajesty to Burberry for women has been sprayed into the fabric of my clothes. This one is great to add to your collection. The day I decided to test it, I wanted to quantify my study in a few ways: I tested longevity, fill-up-the-room factor, and packaging style. I know I shouldn't care about the last one, but I do. Anyway, I sprayed the perfume about 7:00 am and at the end of the day, I could still smell it sticking to my sweater, but faintly. I think it is a nice perfume if you are going to work, and don't want to completely fill up the conference room... As far as the packaging goes, it is nice, modern, and straightforward. The standard size bottle is about 1.1 ounces and $30. Sud Pacifique claims that the break down of the perfume is as follows: "it starts with lemon and Bergamot, then a generous heart made of Rose, Jasmine, Blackberries and Pink Berries. The final impression is left by a gourmet Vanilla mixed with White Musk and Cashmere Wood". If that means anything to you, or if it just sounds delicious, then go out and grab this French scent!
False Lashes Extreme Mascara by MAC Cosmetics - $24
I have to admit, I am not one to branch out as far as mascara is concerned. I have used the same brand and type of mascara since the first day I put it on. Consistently, that is. I have stuck in a few of the trendy mascaras over the years, but have never been 'wowed'. Usually, I buy them hoping they will be the new holy grail, try them out, then half-way through the day find that I have transformed into a raccoon with black streaming down my face. In other words, I have not yet found one that compares to L'Oreal's False Fiber Lash Mascara. However, this week I got a hold of one of MAC's staple mascara's. It being a well-known brand, I figured that they may be able to compete with the current champion. And I was pleasantly surprised! Granted, it is no lash magic, but it got the job done. Actually, it made my lashes (which I will admit are longer than average) look kick-ass for the whole day! It seems to be a lengthen-er, not a volumiz-er, if that makes any logical sense. It is a mousse-like formula and goes on fairly easily. MAC claims that it is fake and smear free, making it a big contender for those who wear glasses or contacts! It comes in a .28 oz container and comes in carbon black. Though it did not knock the top spot, this mascara seems dependable and good for all day use. So, if you are looking to go from work to party to bed - this mascara is definitely for you!

Queen of the Fill by Elizabeth Mott - $20
Alright, fine. I have been using this product for a few years now, but what does it matter! I just want to give you products that you can trust, and this is undoubtedly one. I first received this gel about 2 years back and it has been the only brow product in my life since then. No joke. I use it almost everyday to fill in my brows. Yes - my brows are already Indian-thick, but whats the harm in defining them to the ultimate level? I take pride in my brows and this product allows me to do so. It comes with a tapered brush for combing the gel into define individual hairs, but I use it differently. With a slanted brow brush, I use the gel to outline my brow lines and sculpt them into their ultimate form. I don't know if this is a great way as far as procedure goes, but they always end up looking fly! Anyway, the gel comes in 4 different colors and is packaged in a .14 oz bottle. That may seem small but, trust me, it lasts for eons! For example, I have only bought two in 3 years. If that doesn't convince you, then nothing will!
